About My Oh So Lovely Blog

Ah, so curiosity got the better of you did it?

Super.

Thanks in advance for entertaining this self-indulgent bit ‘o whimsy, if even for a minute; I hope to repay the favor somehow. To be honest, I just wanted something that was mine, you know? And so, my blog was created (I really wish it wasn’t such an ugly word, blog…. sounds like a bullfrog belching and hiccupping at the same time, BLOOOG!).

Ahem, anywho…

After scouring my brain for something I could talk about on this thing, I am sad to say I was coming up a bit short. What if I’m not unique enough, or funny enough or interesting enough??? What if no one wants to read this swill? I immediately wanted to forget the whole thing.

Ever have those thoughts? Well, usually I let those negative nellys defeat me before I even get started, but not this time, by Jove!

So my task here is simple (I’m chuckling insanely in my head, can you hear it?):

As a way to commemorate my 30th year on this loverly planet (sniffle… bye, bye 20s!)  I plan on documenting each and every day of my first year as a 30-year-old.

Boring, right?

Oh no, dear reader! There’s more!

The plan is to take one or two… or three or four (the number really doesn’t matter, silly) seemingly mundane events from each day and whip them into a fine frenzy of readability. They will bow to my imagination and become a whimsical account of how my mind works if you were to view it perched prettily inside my noggin. Brew ha ha!

Now, I can’t promise that every day will be fodder for the muses of creativity, but I can promise to try my darndest. I hope you will be a teeny tiny bit amused by my scribblings here, and dare I say it… even entertained. If not, no big whoop, I don’t hold grudges.

Love & Squirrels.

Sam

  6. I felt the same way when I started my blog (though it was only a week ago… and I still feel that way). It’s also why so many of my blogs have failed, but I’m determined to keep this one up.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that this is totally a cool idea. The story a day thing. My life is UBER mundane, so I doubt I could whip up anything entertaining, lol, so props to you!

    • Thanks for the props, Malise. To be honest, my typical day is pretty boring… but I refuse to tell it that way! I’ve always been easily amused (and amazed) by what most people perceive as ‘mundane’ so I figured, why not write about it? It’s been a fun (and laborious) ride and definitely worth it.

Best of luck on your own blogging journey, you’ll do great!

      • No problem!
Glad you refuse to let things stay boring! That’s a talent (truly)!

Thanks! Best of luck to you as well!

  7. Great concept, I have to admit. First of all congrats on turning 30 and second congrats on coming up with such a brilliant idea. I will definitely be checking back to read not-so-mundane and fantastical exploits of your day.

    • Thanks for stopping by and the ‘congrats’… not sure if the concept is ‘brilliant’ or completely insane (I’m leading towards insane) but it’s a hell of a ride, and only halfway done! 🙂

Writing in the ‘about me’ isn’t self indulgent – people love it! I love to know who’s behind the words. Yes I’ve had doubts “who’d wanna read this swill” but there still is that great feeling of putting it out there, you know. So stay with it, & enjoy 🙂

  9. Hello Katerina, Phil, Anne, Carrot, Erectitudes, Clown Rhymes, Lady (with a truck 😉 ), Guess what I did today, What happened to Alice, Traces of Jupiter, Barking in the Dark, KLRS09 (all that matters), Edward, Sk8erchrissheek, Waefarer.

If your name is embolded, it means I have your email address. If your name is NOT embolded, it means I’m going to have to post this as a comment on your blog – but to be discrete as possible, I will post it in the ‘About You’.

I figured after asking the first couple of Gravatars could I have their email address that most people don’t seem to want their email address out there so my best approach, with respect for your privacy, is to paste this as a comment.

    THE INSPIRATION
Mid October Katerina very generously awarded me the One lovely blog award. I was honoured, sincerely, but it seemed too much work to accept it (sorry!). BUT THEN, October 30 Phil awarded me the Versatile blog award. Again I was chuffed – it really is lovely to be thought of like this. I then thought, maybe I can accept both awards in one post, and highlight some of my favourite bloggers in the meantime.

    THE IDEA
I wish to do a video which opens with links to both Katerina’s page and Phil’s page AND a quote of 1-2 (no more) paragraphs of one of your blogs, read by me – and then telling the viewer that to see the end of that post, visit the blog!

The video would then move on to me doing a reading of 1-2 paras (no more) of each and every other one of you others, as I wish to nominate you all for these awards too – as you others would be my nominees.

IT MUST BE UNDERSTOOD THAT ACCEPTING NOMINATION IS NOT ESSENTIAL – IT IS ENTIRELY OPTIONAL (which is why I didn’t think I could be bothered with the first nomination – oh the rules on acceptance!). You accept it or don’t; it’s up to you – in the very least, it’s nice to be mentioned.

    THE REQUEST
I request your permission to read 1-2 paras of your work on a video, and then finish the read with a link to your page, and announcing you as a nominee. If you don’t like this idea at all, you are so very free to say no thanks.

I require your consent because to me words are quiet precious. You bring them to mind and arrange them in your style and you begift whomever you wish to, and it just may be that you don’t want your words going too far.

    THE DEADLINE
Today is Sunday 6 November to me. For all the people who respond to me at wordsfallfrommyeyes@hotmail.com saying yes I may quote their words in the video, I will do those people only. If you don’t respond, or if you respond to say ‘no, please don’t’, I respect fully your wishes.

I intend to film next Saturday and hopefully have the video up by early next week. So I do look forward to hearing from you.

That wasn’t exactly brief, but I did need to say it and not everyone had an email address.

Kindest best to you, fellow bloggers, & some of you being subbers too.

    Sincerely,
    N’n.

SPECIFIC FAVOUR REQUESTED: Can someone – someone please help me and copy this email onto the blog of ‘What’s Happened to Alice’. I like her page very much and really want her in this, and would be honoured if she would allow me to read something of hers – BUT I KEEP GETTING FAILURE MESSAGES – I CAN’T POST MESSAGES TO HER PAGE. I HAVE NO WAY OF CONTACTING WHAT’S HAPPENED TO ALICE. Please could you do this for me, someone – http://whatshappenedtoalice.blogspot.com/ – and let me know what she says? Thank you.
