Day #270: Tale As Old As Time…

The Story:

Consume at least two ‘adult’ beverages prior…

Arrive approximately 13-14 minutes late…

Attend with friends who share a similar appreciation for the subject matter…

Sit discreetly in one of the back rows…

Singing along is not required, but recommended…

Anticipating the dialog shows you really know your stuff…

There is a chance children may be in attendance, simply ignore their presence…

If other patrons move seats due to your overzealous appreciation, it simply means they are not true fans, or they’re just sticks in the mud…

You may feel the urge to shout out ‘this is my favorite part!’…

If you are going to sing, make sure to do so loudly, and off-key (no one likes a show off)…

Admiration and/or critique of the scenery and artistic effects are encouraged…

And THAT’S how you watch Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, 3-D… as a 30-year-old.

The Not So Fantastic Reality:

The above story was inspired by the following tidbits I encountered today:

ONE:      What a fun day! Got a morning text to meet up with two girlfriends for a bit ‘o shopping, drinks and to catch a movie. After enjoying a round of hard cider, the time was getting away from us and it was decision time, either we grab our check and go to the flick we intended on seeing, or order another round (or two) and take our chances with whatever was showing in the next time slot. Scrolling through our options, the decision was basically made for us when we discovered Beauty and the Beast was showing in little over an hour, in 3-D… done and done. I honestly can think of no better way to enjoy a brisk Saturday afternoon then going to a matinée showing of Beauty and the Beast 3-D with two awesome friends after three hard ciders. We were absolutely giddy as the opening scenes jumped off the screen (thanks to our very fashionable 3-D glasses) and couldn’t help but assist Belle with her opening song. Apparently the couple in front of us didn’t appreciate our efforts and after enduring a few minutes of our probably very loud rendition, moved seats. Oops. Usually I’m very in tune with theater etiquette but there was just something about seeing B&B on the big screen and in 3-D. That, or it was the alcohol. Oh well, it was awesome.

The chick in the 2nd row knows what's up...

  1. Best description of a ‘memorable day’ I’ve seen in a long time! Sounds like it was as much fun as the read. 😉

  2. Now I feel bad for giving “the look” over the seat– it’s okay to have some fun!
