Day #196: Way of the Dinosaur

The Story:

Professionalism... gone the way of the dinosaur.

The Not So Fantastic Reality:

The above story was inspired by the following tidbits I encountered today:

ONE:      There seemed to be a common theme today, and not just for yours truly. You know those days where everyone you talk to has some bug up their hoo-ha? Well, today almost everyone I interacted with seemed to be having one specific issue- encountering a general lack of professionalism. Whether it was a co-worker who had to adjust her schedule three times for a state-organized conference she was asked to be a guest speaker for because they couldn’t figure out when they wanted her, or Andy having to bust his butt because another department on the movie set took the day off; and then back to me having to patiently rely on others to get a job done that I could have finished in about 30 minutes (you have to go through certain channels, you see). Whatever the case, there seems to be a real shortage on the level of professionalism and accountability people maintain these days. Are people just too busy, too stressed, too self-consumed? I’m still trying to figure it out… just hope it’s not gone forever and maybe one day it will make a comeback.

Love & Squirrels.

  1. I had the same sort of day.

  2. sorry about your day, it will get better

  3. You’d think in my line of work, managing others millions, there would be a small realm of fringe dwellers clinging to the old-world style of professionalism… But no… I work with/for a bunch of complete bastards, and it’s probably the single worst aspect of my job. I feel your pain, Sam.
